Storm Damage in Glasgow City Centre

The high winds the West of Scotland has been experiencing the past few days has taken its toll on Glasgow city centre.

This is the scene at 6pm tonight, 31 January 2008. Police had to seal off Buchanan Street just at the junction with Bath Street, and past the subway station. The scaffolding on the side of the building facing the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre was being checked out and made safe.

The photo shows the hoardings at the Buchanan Galleries have been blown over. Workmen were clearing up the mess, while the police made sure pedestrians were not in any danger.
